Duh!

Okay, you get pagerank with quality unique content and quality links.

This blog is about reality hacking, magic and business, this blog is full of content – good content!  It covers reality (news, politics), business and e-commerce(seo, affiliate marketing and so forth) and magic (Chaos Magic, Hoodoo, Law of Attraction). It seems Google doesn’t see this blog having enough focus to establish growing  page rank or good search engine results. My page rank has dropped from 2 to 1.

So, what I’ve realized. To rank for Chaos Magic, I need to create a page devoted to it, nothing else. I need to write posts, even if they are political or about lady gaga’s latest fashion choice – inserting the key word “Chaos magic” in there even if it’s stupid to do so.

This post is a good start – look at all the times I mentioned ‘Chaos magic’!

I may go and rewrite all my old posts to include the key words I want to rank for. It’s not like anyone at Google is reading this site, its pagerank is generated thru automation. If someone from Google read this site I think I’d do a lot better, my sigil magic article is good and many of this blog’s posts kick ass!

‘Course Phil Hine’s “oven ready Chaos” ebook lands on page 7 of google’s search and Phil Hine is a foremost authority on Chaos Magic (If you’re cash poor, get it now! – otherwise a very affordable Condensed Chaos by the same author is a must have).

So that’s my new project, my new SEO discipline with this blog. There’s too few Chaos magic resources online and I want this site to be a good one.

EDIT

It’s now July 29, 2011 – and it’s official, Google is deprecating page rank! Meaning they mean to no longer support page rank, page rank information is no longer being updated and Google means to eliminate it entirely as something to measure. It may still be calculated by their secret algorithm, but the information is meant to stay private.

This site has been growing a lot this year. My server stats confirm I’ve gone from under 10k unique ip visitors a month to, this month, over 20k unique Ip addresses. That’s a measure that means something, especially as each IP address on average visits my site 5 times a month, and reads an average of 5 pages a per visit.

Optimizing for search engines? My server tells me less than 5% of my visitors come from google – about half come from bookmarks or emailed web links, the other half mostly visits from links on other sites. And SEO? The title for any one of my blog posts is number one on google for those words!

I’m clear it’s not the Chaos magic that’s drawing the readers, it’s the marketing. And the idea someone might have a new idea to apply to marketing.
