Grace Groner -Model Millionaire
by Michael Robin Cooke on Mar.05, 2010, under Kitschchaos

A ‘secret millionaire’, Grace Groner on passing has donated SEVEN MILLION dollars to here alma mater, Lake Forest College.
And no one had a clue she was a millionaire! The news stories stress how she had been a child of the Great Depression and learned to be frugal from that experience. Her money is from an $180 stock purchase in 1935 and her reinvesting those profits. She worked as a secretary and lived in a one bedroom house for 43 years.
What I want to do is put a correct focus on this. The usual reaction is a kind of ‘gosh-wow!’ and walking away from the story thinking the woman eccentric or crazy to have been so rich while being so under the radar.
But Grace lived life with greater wealth than most millionaires – she had friends that liked her, she held a job that made her productive and useful.
My last landlord, when I lost my job and was behind on rent, told me “What, you think I should get a job?”, for him modest real estate wealth meant a responsibility to never work again!
Many rich people have serious problems. All friends, unless they are as rich as they are, have suspect motives – so you inevitably become at least mildly misanthropic. And the friends as rich as yourself – put you in a position to maybe feel ‘not rich enough’. There are many millionaires that feel impoverished.
Now the problem, it’s a real problem – it has nothing to do with money and everything to do with being stupid about wealth.
Grace Groner isn’t a model millionaire because she didn’t use her resources to live a lavish lifestyle. She’s a model millionaire because she lived a life rich with positive experiences, good friends, fun.
Which brings us to a simple idea. What is valuable in life, what we want – are experiences. The things we desire – their purpose is to deliver an experience. That fancy Rolls Royce, actually owning it and driving it – do you feel people watching you in admiration or contempt? Driving in the Rolls – do you become James Bond? Does your penis grow two sizes? Really, maybe you should return your car to the dealer explaining – “It didn’t work, I’m not James Bond and my penis is still the same size.”
Which brings us to the core problem of Law of Attraction, Magic and wealth, if you have it: What do you really want?
So here’s the key exercise. Do this, and take your time with it.
If there are no limitations or consequences, describe in detail, your perfect typical day. Who do wake in bed with? what kind of bed? What are you wearing? What is your partner wearing? Do you have a pet? Do you take a bath or shower? Describe the bath or shower….
And go on, what you eat for breakfast, what you spend your day doing, who your friends are – lunch, afternoon evening – YOUR PERFECT TYPICAL DAY!
Do it now, or do it soon. And the exercise may consume many pages.
What this will do for you? Well, it will jump start the law of attraction into working towards something genuine. Give you a context for magic that will be more successful, more in line with your ‘true will’ as Crowley would suggest. And it will put you in a position, when wealth comes to you, to use it and not have it use you.

Great post, I would recommend that you make it a bit more convenient to add this to some social media sites, throw up a big add to twitter button or something in a few places that are obvious. No sense in making it too much work to add your stuff. Also, I really like your comment layout here, is it the default setup for your theme or did you customize it?
