I’m working on stuff for this site. This site will get a makeover and I’m going to be adding some content. The Kitschchaos e-book I’m writing is still being worked on, but is on hold. Instead I’m updating ‘The Science of getting Rich’ by Wally Wattles – a classic of the ‘New Thought’ Law of Attraction material, with commentary and supplemental information – Zen meditation and sigil magic.

The Law of Attraction is a workable magical paradigm, but the idea that thoughts shape reality is incomplete without some coaching on how to shape your thoughts. There is also the ‘asshole’ side effect that Law of Attraction has on some people (examples: “I can’t be with you, you’re not supportive.” – “Your thoughts created your being raped!- fired!”).

I believe chaos magic has a LOT to offer Law of Attraction, especially the foundation idea: “Nothing is true, everything is permitted”. Just because you work with LOA (Law of Attraction) doesn’t mean it’s okay to allow it to become a source of prejudice or judgement.

This project brings up the paradox that is the idea of gnosis being key to magic. LOA doesn’t much involve gnosis in any explicite or conscious way, certainly folk magics like Hoodoo don’t either.

Now to get the uninitiated up to speed, the idea of gnosis in Chaos Magic may be unique to Chaos Magic. Essentially the idea is that for a magical result to work there needs to be a combination of will, belief and an absent/single minded state of mind – this mental state is labelled ‘gnosis’.

LOA, fuelled with continual thought,  establishes a clear intent for the will – the fact of the continual thought establishes faith. But where is the gnosis?

Of course I’ve my conclusion, I’m writing the post. Not that I can take credit for it, Chaos magic theory precedes me and is developed to a point it may be hopeless to introduce anything new. Commonly gnosis is associated with sexual orgasm or intense meditative focus. Less commonly however, it’s realized that gnosis marbels everyday consciousness – any moment of absentmindedness being magically charged.

So there you go, the gnosis of LOA exists in absentmindedness wherein the thought has already become routine.
