Black Magic and True Will

by Michael Robin Cooke on Apr.04, 2009, under Kitschchaos

Do what thou Wilt

shall be the whole of the law.

Love is the law.

Love under Will.

That turn of phrase is familiar to those involved in Wicca, but really it comes from Aleister Crowley. Commonly people of a Christian or other common conservative background will interpret the statement to translate as ‘anything goes’ and to exist as a scandalous license to wanton behaviour. In reality, as understood by Aleister Crowley, it’s almost the opposite. The key is how you interpret the word ‘will’. Commonly it suggests anything it occurs to you to do or intend. To Crowley ‘will’ assumes transcendental qualities usually reserved for the likes of ‘God’.

The Crowley model suggests there’s a ‘true will’, akin to fate, for every person. So if it’s your destiny to become a powerful and wealthy business person, the whole force of the universe will back up your magics aligned to your free will. If your magic fails – perhaps the desire you’re working with is at odds with your ‘True Will’?

I reject Crowley’s notion of ‘True Will’ to the extent it’s a dogma. I reject the notion of pre-destiny because it’s unproven, I understand the power of belief and choose to not believe any unproven  idea that limits me and is ultimately dis-empowering.

But, at the same time, ‘true will’ is an accurate concept metaphorically. As a metaphor, “true will’ would be inescapable (we are who we are) and a very useful and practical  explanation for an undeniable reality: all humans are creatures of magical will/intent.  It explains why magic is often more successful given a desire rather than a person to work with. Magic working with pure desire can manifest the result in a way that’s in accordance with “will”, in the sense that all life has intentions, such magic can find a path of least resistance in alignment with the web of interconnected desire and will. When working magic on specific people it’s more likely there’s no such path of least resistance in the web of desire and intent to provide easy success.

Black Magic

Now I don’t believe in Black Magic really. The term is vague and means different things to different people. But generally it’s understood as magic meant to seduce or hurt another specific person. There is a real distinction between right hand path magic (The magic power comes from without, as in Christian prayer) and left hand path magic (the power comes from within, as in ‘psychic powers’) – most magicians do a little of both.

For purposes of this article, ‘Black magic’ shall be defined as follows : any magic act that seeks to thwart the will or intent of another.  Note there is no moral judgement here, I’m convinced karma is instant (again, metaphorically) and genuine fulfilment of authentic desire is all good.

So, assuming your interest is in hurting another person, there’s something you should think about first. Love and hate are not opposites, they both are functions of relatedness – indifference is their opposite. So, in a very real way – the only way to completely annihilate your enemy , is to make them your friend. I profoundly recommend this approach, it’s what I’d do for a customer were I selling my magical services.

But, let’s say you’re not interested in that, you want them to suffer! Even here, I’m making no judgements – they made you so upset it’s their karma what happens to them, and your karma to enjoy or suffer as a consequence.  Better to burn a lack candle than be arrested for driving a knife into someone’s back.

Even when practising ‘Black magic’ it’s possible to work with your target’s will. Understand the principle of duality of desire, and people can be messed up enough to give your magic options. If a person feels guilt or shame for any reason, magic can ride that wave to make your mark suffer. A little research can go a long way when it comes to targeting your magic for a powerful result.

The first thing you want is a psychic link with your target, the more personal the better, their hair, fingernail cutting, a garment soiled with their sweat, an unwashed sock and so forth. A weaker link can be a photo, signature or even a drawing – but this will require greater powers of concentration and imagination from you.

When you do your magic, you are hurting them. You must pour your anger into the act, this is your stabbing them in the back if that’s what you want to do. Express yourself, your rage. All of it! Because what is very important is that when the spell is over, your need for revenge is sated. Don’t lust for the result, believe in your magic and allow the desire to be sated.

The simple figure your construct including the requisite psychic link, and ritually torture and destroy is a satisfying technique, can be combined with a destructive sigil for a devastating blend of sigil magic and sympathetic magic. Here’s the Lucky mojo Archive of black magic spells for destructive spells with a pedigree of tradition.

Black magic spells relating to sex, see my sex magic post. Again, procure a psychic link for your spell. I strongly recommend you use this magic exclusively for casual sex, and that you always use condoms when having casual sex.

Now, having gone over the use of black magic, I’m sure some of my readers want to know how to protect themselves. Here’s the Luckymojo White Magic archive with tested traditional spells to protect yourself and break black magic cast upon you.

From a Chaos Magic perspective, if you feel yourself under occult attack it’s a very powerful banishing technique to shift your believe system to scepticism and to laugh out loud, powerfully. The Hoodoo cleansing baths I also recommend. The servitor technique is what I recommend for a general purpose protection – create a servitor and give it dominion over your good luck and protection from evil, and use it frequently (any time you need more luck) to empower it. A powerful enough protection servitor and it’ll be REALLY hard for any magician to damage you magically.
