The problems with Toyota cars affect only the most recent models but that includes the past few years, the problems are genuine and if the American government did anything it was to help Toyota by not discovering the problems sooner. information from Toyata about their recall and what cars are being recalled: http://www.toyota.com/recall/?srchid=K610_p281247239 If you are buying an older used car, a Toyota is likely a good choice.
